Furniture Medic of Kingston is owned by Kingston native Brent MacKinnon and son Ben. The passionate family duo boasts 48 years of combined industry experience. 1981 marked the beginning of Brent’s successful career in furniture restoration. In Alberta, Brent refinished antiques for private customers and several prestigious retailers including Eaton’s and Sears.
Brent developed furniture restoration skills in many management roles across Canada before moving back to Kingston in 1987. Missing family and the province, Brent opened new furniture retail stores across Ontario, acquiring many more contracts heading into the late nineties.
Later joining La-Z-Boy Kingston as a Furniture Technician, this preceded his current role as a Furniture Medic franchisee. Elsewhere, son and co-owner Ben MacKinnon is a highly skilled marine canvas manufacturer and upholsterer too.
Ben specializes in wood furniture repairs, furniture reupholstering, upholstery repair and particularly, marine canvas upholstery. With ten years’ full-time experience, he's a key asset. With Kingston steeped in maritime heritage, Ben repairs upholstery for powerboats, pontoon boats, sailing ships and everything in between.
